Golf Platja de Pals  

A typically British style course. Located in natural surroundings a few metres from the beach, on dunes covered by an immense pine forest planted seventy years ago, Golf Platja de Pals was an idea created at the beginning of the 70s by Baltasar Parera Vilar and his wife Doña Rosa Coll Llach.

The golf course works started in 1964, under the management of the English architect Mr. Fred Hawtree. The promoters displayed a marked respect for the environment, up to the point where they did not allow a single pine tree to be felled unless it had been marked beforehand.

The first holes on the first Costa Brava golf course were inaugurated in the summer of 1966, and soon after, in 1968 the extension of the course was undertaken with nine holes more until the 18 regulation holes stipulation was fulfilled. The new regulation course was inaugurated in 1970 with the celebration of the "Spanish International Amateur Championship". Two years later, the Golf Platja de Pals, held the "1972 Spanish Open".

Since then the course has been considered as one of the finest in Spain thanks to its design and construction, and it has been the venue of numerous international competitions. This is one of the two courses which along with the Golf Serres de Pals New Course forms part of the Hotel La Costa Golf where our clients can enjoy preferential treatment.

With direct access from the Hotel La Costa gardens, it is considered to be one of the most prestigious golf courses in Spain. Its design demands a highly precise game as its fairways are flanked by large pine trees. The clubhouse has a marked English atmosphere and a special charm, providing the final touch to a first class golfing day.

Golf Serres de Pals 

Just at 2 kilometres of the Mediterranean coast and the Hotel La Costa, the Serres de Pals forms with the Golf de Pals and the Empordà Golf Club the Golf Gold Triangle of the Costa Brava. An absolutely accessible golf course to practice this sport.

The golf school is run by the golfing professional Pedro Garcia who follows the techniques and teaching methods of Mr. John Jacobs. The classes, whenever requested by customers, can be given in any of the following languages: Catalan, Spanish, English, French or German.

The school offers courses made to measure, rounds with a professional, swing analysis, and obtaining a Handicap.

The course, designed by Ramon Espinosa, has three different areas with smooth hills, pine woods and lanes among lakes. Surrounded by marvelous landscapes from the Baix Emporda, joints the best conditions to play golf and to enjoy the mild Mediterranean weather.

Golf Serres de Pals welcomes expert golf players and people who want to improve their technique and those who want to start playing golf. The staff at Golf Serres de Pals work with the utmost professionalism to ensure perfection in all its services.

The Club House, located alongside a former 13th century farmhouse known as Mas Gelabert, offers different areas where players and visitors can be fitted out with the best golfing names, relax after the game and marvel at the wonderful views from its terraces.

Located just 10 minutes from the Hotel La Costa, it was opened in the year 2000 and was created in order to offer a first–class service for golfers from all over the world. The course has 3 different areas with gentle hillocks, pine woods and fairways between lakes.

Accommodation

La Costa resort offers 66 double rooms with all the comforts and services of a 4-star resort with excellent views over the large garden area, the swimming pool or the Playa de Pals golf course.

The comfortable air-conditioned rooms each come with a bathroom, a hairdryer, a direct dial telephone, satellite/ cable TV, a radio, a hi-fi stereo system, a minibar, central heating, a balcony or terrace and a hire safe as standard. Rooms enjoy views out over the pool complex, the gardens or the golf course, which lies sprawls next to the hotel.

Soft lighting and warm-coloured fabrics provide a relaxing, leisurely atmosphere, reflecting the family atmosphere with which we welcome our guests. The ground floor rooms have direct access to the swimming pool and a private garden area.

We have private salons for family reunions or business meetings. We have been members of the "Cuina de l'Empordanet" culinary society since 2002. The resort also has a water area, which is open during summer, and where you will be able to enjoy all types of nautical sports or just relax on the white sands of the beach.

In one of the most attractive settings on the Catalan coast, La Costa Golf has one of the best-equipped, most prestigious sporting and residential resorts in Catalonia.

Hotel La Costa Golf benefits from an excellent location an hour and a half from Barcelona and just five minutes from some of the finest beaches on the Costa Brava, including Aiguablava, Begur, Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc and Tamariu L'Escala and L'Estartit. The Hotel is located 30 minutes from Girona Airport, which is roughly a two-hour flight from various major European airports.

The hotel is less than two kilometres away from the Basses d'en Coll Nature Area, while those seeking some thrills and spills should head for one of the three nearby waterparks or journey south to the Port Aventura theme park.

Pals has a fascinating underwater archaeology museum that's well worth a visit and in the next village there is an art museum, the Museu Torrent, with an impressive collection of contemporary Catalan sculpture and paintings.

The Emporda was the home to many ancient peoples who left behind dolmens in Fitor, Iberian ruins in Ullastret, the Jewish Quarter in Girona, Roman ruins in Empuries, medieval towns in Pals, Peratallada and Monells, the castle of Montgri, and many more examples, not to mention the monasteries, churches and hermitages.
