The Emporda is a superb Golf Course design from noted Texan architect Robert von Haage. Opened in 1991, the Emporda Golf Club is fully-established among Europe’s finest top 50 courses. The Emporda Golf course offers a total of 36 holes, divided into two separate 18-hole courses: Links and Forest.   Robert von Hagge chose to integrate a links-style course with two large lakes, dunes and rolling bunkers into a classic Mediterranean landscape replete with dense, manicured pine stands and spacious fairways. Von Haage has taken full advantage of the open, undulating terrain of the Green Course to produce a layout with more than a few resemblances to a British links.
The track is treeless and almost barren in appearance with wide fairways and rough left intentionally long. Extended bunkers present an additional test and a demand for accuracy.
Adding a little more of a links experience is the breeze coming in off The Mediterranean Sea, with an uncanny ability to whip up into gusts when least expected, the extra spice just adds to the challenge. With the inauguration of the final 9 holes, the course came to offer a total of two separate 18-hole courses.
The first, called Links, spans dunes and lakes in a style reminiscent of the world-famous greens of Scotland. The second, Forest, is more Mediterranean in style and winds invitingly through pine trees and lakes.
Mr Von Haage has succeeded in crafting a masterful design at Emporda that presents as much a test of golf skills as any course in Spain.
Fortunately, he has also shown compassion for those less accomplished. Offering 6 different tee positions, he has acknowledged that this is not a world of only low handicappers. The course is now host to the final PGA European Tour Qualifying School in conjunction with Pals.

Hotel Emporda Golf benefits from an excellent location an hour and a half from Barcelona and just five minutes from some of the finest beaches on the Costa Brava, including Aiguablava, Begur, Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc and Tamariu L'Escala and L'Estartit. The Hotel is located 30 minutes from Girona Airport, which is roughly a two-hour flight from various major European airports.
